How to feel beautiful after childbirth?

After childbirth, taking care of yourself is essential to feeling good about yourself and regaining confidence. Losing your bearings, you may think that it will be difficult to get back on top after all these changes. Often too busy with your little one, you neglect even your most basic needs: eating, sleeping, taking a shower, going to the toilet (sic!)…

Rest assured, this phase is temporary. However, to feel good about yourself again, balancing your baby's care with your own is a priority. Admittedly, the postpartum period is not easy. But with a few tips, good organization and a special beauty routine for young mothers, it's possible!

And to achieve this without pressure, In'Oya gives you its best advice.

Learning to love your body again after pregnancy

After giving birth, you discover your different body. After spending 9 months accepting yourself pregnant, you have to relearn how to love her again in a different guise. Recognizing yourself in the mirror and appreciating your postpartum body is often a delicate moment.

Accept your postpartum appearance, because it's temporary

Even if you feel vulnerable, remember that this postpartum period is temporary. It's perfectly normal to have ups and downs in the process of taming your body after baby. Also keep in mind that the intensity of your emotions is accentuated by hormonal variations.

Also, it takes time for your body to recover. Your body will regulate itself naturally as you adjust to postpartum life. Sometimes, certain marks on the stomach, thighs, buttocks can persist after pregnancy: stretch marks, scars, brown spots... Your breasts are no longer quite the same, whether you are breastfeeding or not. In any case, to better accept them, consider them as signs of your journey and proof of your strength.

Realize that all of these physical changes are inevitable after childbirth. It is therefore useless to compare yourself to other women, mothers like you. Whether it's your friends, influencers or celebrities, remember that every body reacts differently to pregnancy. This is why, in order to preserve your well-being, it is essential to focus on your own experience.

If necessary, treat yourself to some new clothes that match your current figure. As a general rule, the special wardrobe for pregnant women is no longer necessarily suitable, and neither are pre-pregnancy outfits. The objective of this shopping session is therefore to help you regain the confidence to feel beautiful, again, on a daily basis.

Be indulgent and show kindness to yourself

Dare to give yourself a few minutes of self-massage with a sensory oil. Become aware of your perceptions with slow and benevolent gestures. Reclaim this new body by simply stretching when you wake up or by going for a walk at your own pace in nature.

You need to make time for yourself on a regular basis, whether daily or weekly, to do something for yourself that you truly enjoy. Organize with your partner or loved ones to practice a hobby or activity without your baby.

Taking a moment to do something you enjoy will benefit your overall well-being. But if your negative emotions persist, don't keep them to yourself. Sharing your feelings with your partner, family, or friends will give you real support and help you come to terms with the situation.

Be kind to yourself and focus on the essentials. By nature, motherhood is a period of great transformations in many respects. Don't put pressure on yourself trying to get back to your pre-pregnancy look right after giving birth.

Post-natal yoga, mother-baby gym… Young mothers dream, ideally, of embarking on a postpartum sports program. But if you do not feel able to follow such a project, do not feel guilty. By setting goals that are too ambitious, you risk accentuating a certain discomfort, even rejection of your postpartum body.

As soon as your baby arrives, practice self-compassion, be gentle with yourself. You have performed a miracle, you deserve it! You can start with the essential hygiene and beauty moments.

Important: if, despite everything, you feel sad, overwhelmed or exhausted, you may be going through a baby blues. Do not hesitate to consult a professional. If you see a midwife for perineal rehabilitation, she can also accompany you or refer you to a psychologist specializing in maternal health.

Skin care & Make-up: what beauty routine after baby?

After giving birth, you naturally have less time for yourself. But this is not a reason to take less care of your well-being and your appearance. Follow our advice to achieve this easily and without feeling guilty.

Here's an after-baby beauty routine that can help you feel good about yourself.

The express face & body care ritual – Special Post-partum

To regain supple, soft skin and a radiant complexion after baby, it is important to continue to take care of your skin morning and evening. For the face as for the body, focus on 3 essential steps: cleansing, hydration and targeted treatments.

Step 1 : Skin cleansing

This is an essential step to feeling good when you wake up and at the end of the day. For the face, this step removes impurities and makeup. While for the body, in addition to hygiene rules, this key moment is ideal for relaxing and reclaiming one's appearance.

For facial care, be sure to follow this ritual morning and evening with a gentle cleansing formula: water-based foaming gel, make-up remover micellar lotion, etc. The main thing is to favor the product that motivates you to take care of yourself in all circumstances: lack of sleep, time, or desire!

Step 2 : Face and body hydration

After cleansing, apply a moisturizer suitable for your skin type on the face and a nourishing milk on the body. These daily cares will help to maintain balance and flexibility. Be sure to use sunscreen every day to prevent stains.

And of course, drink enough water throughout the day to keep your skin hydrated and glowing.

Step 3 : Specific skin care

After childbirth, pregnancy-related skin problems do not always go away without treatment.

So be sure to watch out for these specific skin concerns such as pigment spots (pregnancy mask - melasma), stretch marks or scars. By opting for targeted treatments, it is then possible to fade them more quickly : anti-spot serum or cream, eye contour, etc.

Remember to check that your usual products - body care or face routine - are still in line with your needs as a young mother. Indeed, upon returning from maternity, the drop in hormones due to childbirth can upset the skin balance.

Many are unaware of it, but after a pregnancy, the epidermis can experience the same inconveniences as before the period, and this, for several months. For some, the skin will be more oily with acne pimples. For others, it will become dry, flaky and dull!

Finally, most new moms will also experience dark circles under their eyes for a while.

Good to know: as with skin care, your postpartum hair routine must be adjusted to your daily life. Forget the systematic brushing by opting for pretty Afro hairstyles, very practical, or a new cut that is easier to maintain. Be sure, in addition, to choose a shampoo and a conditioner adapted to your new type of hair.

The ideal make-up for young mothers

The ideal after baby is to opt for a light and quick make-up, easy to apply in a few minutes. On a daily basis, for a fresh and natural look, opt for a minimalist make-up kit:

• Complexion radiance: compact powder, BB cream or light complexion fluid

• Fresh look: Concealer and mascara

• Healthy glow: blush and tinted lip balm

• Neat nails: trendy nude varnish

And since you are going to take the time to organize a romantic outing with the young dad, you can opt for a slightly more chic version.

The base is similar to daytime make-up, but the look is intensified with an iridescent pink or orange shadow and a thin line of eyeliner.
