65% of men shave every day... But this daily gesture assaults the skin. Why does shaving irritate, and how to avoid the appearance of pimples?
The appearance of pimples after shaving the beard is a rather common phenomenon (it is also called pseudo-folliculitis). 60-80% of men with black & matte skin suffer from shaving pimples to different degrees, compared to only 15-20% of men with white skin. Some men decide, tired, to give up shaving. They prefer to grow their beard to avoid this inconvenience.
Even though this inflammation is often due to a poor quality razor, this does not explain everything.
On the one hand, shaving buttons appear when the shave is not done in the direction of hair regrowth. On the other hand, it is because the hair and beard of black and matte men are curved.
Thus, after shaving or shaving too closely, when the hair grows back, it will turn and remain in the skin wanting to pierce the wall of the follicle. This results in irritation, inflammation in the follicle that causes pimples.
The use of a mechanical razor is then recommended to shave properly and in the right direction, avoiding pressing too hard and ironing many times on the same area. It is advisable to shave in the morning, 15 to 20 minutes after washing your face with hot or warm water to open the pores, so that the hair has had time to soften and so that the skin is clean. Regardless of the color of your skin, the tips and products to use for a good shave will be the same.
3 steps to follow
1. Always prepare your skin before shaving: already apply a shaving product (foam, cream or gel) because the more hydrated the skin, the smoother the shave will be exercised.
2. It is also very important that after each shaving session, your skin is deeply nourished. After shaving, the skin is weakened, so use a moisturizing, antiseptic, hypoallergenic and fat-free unifying treatment to restructure the skin and help it heal. It will moisturize the skin deeply and help restructure its hydrolipidic film, a thin layer of skin protection.
3. Once a week, it is also advisable to make scrubs with an exfoliating product in order to get rid of dead skin and impurities that prevent the hair from growing normally. This operation will make the skin more supple and more receptive to shaving.
Check the implantation of the beard to shave always in the direction of hair regrowth, and shave with both hands: one pulls the skin while the other shaves.
