The distribution of Marula, or Sclerocarya Birrea on the African continent has followed the migration of the Bantu people, since they have made up an important part of their food source since time immemorial. These fruits are rich in vitamin C, around 8 times as much as an orange.
The Sclerocarya Birrea is found in the woodland regions of South Africa, as well as in the Sub-Sahelian region of West Africa. It is present in the Great Green Wall of Africa.
The Marula oil produced via the seed kernels is rich in vitamin E, antioxidants and oleic acid, which makes them one of the best African oils for skin care.
